A photo of Seth Claudepierre

Hello friends, my name is Seth Claudepierre. I am a data scientist at Accenture, where I analyze data and build machine learning models to help federal agencies implement innovative solutions to complex, high-impact problems. I have domain expertise and experience in a number of machine learning areas, including deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and network analysis.

In my former life, I worked as a space scientist at UCLA, The Aerospace Corporation, and Dartmouth College, where I conducted basic and applied research in space plasma physics. You can read more about that work here and check out some of my peer-reviewed space physics publications. I continue to maintain an affiliation with UCLA and Prof. Jacob Bortnik's research group, who have pioneered the application of machine learning to space weather research and modeling.

Over the course of my career, I have been recognized with a number of honors and awards, for both my scholarly activities and my service to the scientific community. I have received several NASA and National Science Foundation research grants as Principal Investigator, and I was a Co-Investigator on NASA's Van Allen Probes mission, aka the Radiation Belt Storm Probes. NASA even wrote a feature story about some of my work on the mission!

My educational background is in mathematics and physics, and I hold a B.A. in Mathematics from Boston University and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado at Boulder (short CV). My personal interests are always evolving, but in my free time I generally enjoy skiing, hiking, playing golf, seeing art and live music, traveling, and tinkering with electronics.
